Allentown Public Theater has a rich record of providing workshops and performances in the Allentown Public Schools.  In the past, our Page to Stage programs have brought theater to the writing curriculum on both the elementary and middle school levels.  Moving into 2020 a bright new program is currently in the works for Allentown’s elementary schools.  That is a play and workshop program based on Latin folk tales which will be created in partnership with Puerto Rican Cultural Preservation.

Current Activities: Also slated for the 2020 Season, APT will take on the challenge of developing two new programs for area schools. The first, designed for middle and high school students, are in-class and after school writing and acting workshops based on the ideas and artistic principles of the Broadway play, In the Heights. For the elementary grades, we look forward to presenting a new program, Big Plans, a workshop series addressing the subject of occupations and ambitions. This offering is a product of our work for the United Way’s Summer Slide program in the Summer of 2019. Currently, our educational team is busy at Holy Infancy School in the production of their Christmas Pageant.
