January 19, 2016 – The Man Who Invented Himself by Stephanie E. Gardner

An Emmaus playwright tells of war photographers Robert Capa and Gerda Taro – a story of love, lust, betrayal, and a search for identity.

February 16, 2016 – Topdog/Underdog by Suzan-Lori Parks

A Pulitzer-winning play about the contentious relationship between two brothers named Booth and Lincoln.

March 15, 2016 – Antigone by Sophocles

Anticipating APT’s spring production of The Island, by Athol Fugard, John Kani, and Winston Ntshona, we do Sophocles’ drama about a woman’s courage to stand up to authority for her dead brother’s honor. The classic Greek tragedy is a play-within-a-play in The Island.

April 19, 2016 – Antigone, Presented By The Girls of St. Catherine’s by Madhuri Shekar

Another look at Antigone, with this new play about an all-girls drama program. As they mount a production of Sophocles’ tragedy, they see art imitating life in disturbing ways.

May 17, 2016 – An Evening of Short Plays by Leah Nanako Winkler

June 21, 2016 – The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer

In honor of Gay Pride Month, a seminal play about the early days of the fight against AIDS.

YOU get to choose which play will be read that night! The choices are:  Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream; The Mystery of Irma Vep, a comedy by Charles Ludlam; or A Streetcar Named Desire, by Tennessee Williams.  And the winner is: The Mystery of Irma Vep.
