Stagenators
Stagenators is a youth theatre and live production program being developed by Allentown Public Theatre.
The program gives young people opportunities to explore both the artistic and technical sides of live theatre. Participants can learn about acting, sound, lighting, stage management, event production, set construction, costumes, and other areas of backstage work.
Stagenators builds on APT’s school-based theatre programs and gives students additional ways to participate after they have gained experience in the classroom. Young people can develop practical skills while learning how a production comes together from planning through performance.
The program emphasizes collaboration, responsibility, communication, and leadership. Participants work together, solve problems, support one another, and take an active role in creating theatre and producing live events.
Stagenators also creates opportunities for young people to gain experience supporting APT productions, school programs, community events, and other performances. Through this hands-on work, participants can explore their interests, build confidence, and develop skills that may be useful in future educational, creative, or professional settings.
The program is open to young people who are interested in performing, working backstage, learning technical skills, or discovering how live events are produced. Not every participant needs to be an actor. Theatre depends on many different skills, interests, and kinds of creative contribution.
