Over the past several years, Allentown Public Theatre has partnered and presented with some of Allentown’s most important arts institutions. The theatre’s collaboration with Muhlenberg College took us from inner city performances at home to the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. More recently, the theater partnered with the Allentown Art Museum to offer a stage for local artists in our Theater Café Series. In addition, partnerships between APT artists and community artists have yielded a rich set of plays addressing racial and gender issues such as our productions of The Island and The Ugly Duckling. We look forward to creating new partnerships with Allentown theatrical organizations as we take the stage in 2020.

Current Activities: In coming year, Allentown Public Theatre will continue its a special relationship with Basement Poetry as part of our resident ensemble in 2020. APT’s team of artists played a strong role in the recent production of Heal performed at the IceHouse in Bethlehem. In the coming months, the company looks forward to reprising their production of For Colored Girls with Promise Neighborhoods as a collaboration between APT actors and community performers.
